Two-Day Event Celebrates All-Things-Cats, Art, Pop Culture and Feline Advocacy
AUSTIN (FEB. 2018) – Cat lovers, get ready to paw-ty! POP Cats, a two-day convention celebrating adorable felines, art, and pop culture is making its Texas debut this summer at Austin’s Palmer Events Center on Aug. 25 – 26.
POP Cats 2018 will offer a fun, immersive feline universe where humans can shop, learn, adopt, play and connect with the spirited cat community. The event is designed to create an upbeat and interactive environment featuring music, entertainment, play space for cats and their owners and ample photo ops. The curated line-up of cat-centric speakers will include engaging presentations from feline experts and influencers, as well as artists and vendors from Texas and around the world – all joining together to celebrate the splendor of cats and the humans that love them.
POP Cats will also feature plenty of felines, of course! Austin Humane Society will be on site with adorable kitties looking for their forever home. Guests can also bring their own cats to enjoy a custom-designed playground. Yes, kitties are invited to POP Cats too!
Created by siblings Edgar Alexander and Johana Flores, POP Cats was founded to raise awareness of feline welfare and celebrate the popular pets through an experience that offers both entertainment and advocacy.
POP Cats debuted in 2017 at the Miami Airport Convention Center. Cat lovers (and their cats!), cat experts and curious spectators descended upon the convention for a fun-filled day of immersive entertainment and feline advocacy.
After a successful inaugural event, Alexander and Flores decided to expand the event to two days and explored the country for a perfect POP Cats 2018 location. They ultimately chose Austin because of the city’s adoration of its pet population and its vibrant creative community. “From the moment you arrive, Austinites warm your heart with genuine kindness. The city’s creative spirit is evident in the beautiful public art around town and being home to long-standing no-kill animal shelters is proof that its residents are also passionate about pets,” says Alexander.
POP Cats is now holding an open call for artists and exhibitors. The event is seeking regional makers, artisans, cat experts and cat-loving volunteers. Early-bird registration ends April 15. Information on becoming a vendor, artist or volunteer can be requested here.
Early-bird tickets for POP Cats 2018 are now on sale through March 31.
Adult early-bird tickets are $15. Children early-bird tickets are $7.50.
Speaker lineup, entertainment details, and artist and exhibitor information will be announced in the spring. Stay tuned!
